Q. - What is Plan A?
A. - Plan A is LFBC's academic services and record-keeping program functioning under the name Landmark Christian Academy. It is available to students in grades 1-12. The Academy offers several services, including records keeping, annual achievement testing, transcripts, report cards, and limited academic support. For high school students, assistance will also be offered concerning credit selection and graduation details. Graduates from the Academy receive a diploma, and an opportunity to walk in the commencement ceremony in Haines City, Florida.

Q. - At what time of year can students be enrolled in the Academy?
A. - Students may be enrolled at any time throughout the year, but recommended dates are July through September for a normal school schedule.

Q. - Is Landmark Christian Academy accredited?
A. - No, not at this time.

Q. - What are the benefits of being enrolled in Landmark Christian Academy?
A. - The Academy program offers several benefits, consisting of diagnosis and prescription of curriculum on an individual basis, careful records keeping, annual achievement testing, and limited academic support, as well as a transcript kept up at all times and a diploma upon completion of the required high school courses. Students are under the protection and support of an umbrella school while remaining at home for their education.

Q. - Does the U.S. military accept LCA graduates?
A. - Yes, our graduates have been accepted by every branch of the military. All the recruiters usually require is a transcript which we will issue upon request.

Q. - If we are missionaries on the field, can we still enroll our children in LCA?
A. - Yes, missionaries may enroll students in LCA, and qualify for discounts in the program. Ask for complete discount information. Students on the foreign field will be afforded all the rights and privileges of the Academy.

Q. - Do you have a graduation ceremony for LCA graduates?
A. - Graduates from the Academy are invited to walk in the commencement exercises with Landmark Christian School graduates at Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City, Florida. Their diplomas will be presented by the Executive Vice President of the Curriculum, Dr. Tim Scott. All details for walking in the ceremony will be handled by the high school office. Call 1-800-700-LFBC for specific instructions.

Q. - In what grade can I enroll my child into LCA?
A. - The Academy services are offered beginning at first grade, but highly recommended for high school students. The support offered elementary school students will consist mainly of academic support and records keeping. For high school students the credits are selected and tracked towards graduation, whereupon a diploma is issued.

Q. - What are the benefits of being enrolled in LCA before the 9th grade?
A. - The greatest benefits of non-high school students being enrolled in the Academy consist of the annual achievement testing, which will enable the parents to see how well their students are doing on the particular grade level. Records are kept, and any questions with a problem or method may be answered over the phone.

Q. - Are there any scholarship programs for LCA graduates?
A. - Not at this time. There may be scholarships available from colleges based on GPA, which will allow graduates to show a transcript of high grades, thus receiving a scholarship.

Q. - Do I send in my child's tests to you for scoring?
A. - No, all scoring must be done by the parents, and the scores sent in on the Student Grade Report included with the order. Report cards will then be issued after the Grade Reports have been examined by the Academy. Achievement testing will be sent in to the Academy for scoring, and results then sent back.

Q. - Can my student earn a music credit by taking lessons or participating in a band instead of taking the Principles of Music course?
A. - The music credit can be granted for music lessons or active use of an instrument, but is subject to approval, and the credit must still be paid for.

Q. - How do I get a high school transcript to my student's desired college?
A. - The college should make an official request for a transcript. We will then send the transcript to the college office.

Graduation

Q.- Where can I get a senior ring?
A. - LFBC has no direct affiliation with a class ring business, so graduates will be best served to use good websites or jewelry stores to order.

Q. - Where can I find a diploma?
A. - Should your student be enrolled in our Academy, he will be issued a diploma upon
completion of the high school course. Otherwise, diplomas must be ordered online or designed by a local business.

Ordering

Q. - How long does it take to get my order?
A. - LFBC guarantees next day filling of orders, and our distributor is UPS. Small orders of one book may go regular USPS. UPS delivers within 3-4 business days. Most orders take less than a week to arrive once they have been placed. Overseas shipments vary.

Q. - Do you sell just the Studyguides?
A. - That is not our policy. The courses come in complete sets. Special exceptions may occur by request.

Q. - Do you sell just the Studyguide Answers?
A. - For normal orders, we do not split up the complete sets, which include Studyguides and Studyguide answers. However, if a request is made for a particular set of answer keys because of loss, damage, or missing pages, there will be a charge for the needed set.

Q. - Do you have a payment plan?
A. - No, all orders must be paid for up front, either with a check, money order, credit card, or C.O.D. Individual courses may be ordered a few at a time in order to keep costs low.

Q. - Do you accept debit cards?
A. - Yes, if they have a Visa affiliation.

Q. - What credit cards do you accept?
A. - We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Sorry, no American Express.

Q. - Can I get my order C.O.D.?
A. - Yes. Simply specify when ordering that you want it C.O.D., and a charge of $7.00 will be added to your total.

Q. - When I place an order, how quickly will it be shipped?
A. - LFBC strives to have a next day shipping policy. Once your order is received, it will go out within the next working day.

Q. - Is there some place I can see the curriculum before ordering?
A. - You can either order samples of our curriculum, or check to see if we will be at a
homeschool conference in your area. Ask the LFBC operator for information about LFBC's conference schedule.

Q. - Do you offer samples?
A. - Yes, you may order samples of any course either by phone or mail. Our customized sample set (cost - $8.00) includes the Scope and Sequence (a detailed description of each course and the curriculum as a whole) and two sample subject sets of your choice. Additional samples may be ordered for $1.00 a set. Maximum of 7 samples per order.

Q. - Is there any way you can put some samples on line?
A. - That is one of our future goals as we increase our website's options and capacity. Look for updates in the near future.

Q. - Do you ship to APO and FPO addresses?
A. - Yes. An extra charge may be added. These will be shipped U.S.P.S.

Q. - When will the internet site be able to take credit card payments?
A. - As soon as the web store is opened, projected to happen within a year or so.

Q. - Can I start the program any time of the year?
A. - Yes. Orders may be placed anytime, and it is up to the parents to decide on a school schedule for their children. The recommended dates are September through May, in keeping with a traditional school year.

Q. - What are the best times to order?
A. - Orders may be placed anytime. When you are ready to begin, place the order allowing a week for shipping.

Q. - Can I order all year around?
A. - Yes.

Q. - Do I have to purchase the entire set, or can I purchase individual courses?
A. - Courses may be purchased individually or as a whole grade.

Discounts

Q. - What is the cost for an entire year of school work for one student?
A. - Without any academic support, the year of schoolwork costs $228 for one student. That includes everything you need for six courses: Bible, English, Literature, History, Math, and Science. The First Grade has only five subjects (no history), and costs $190. Electives may be added in the high school grades for an additional cost, or substituted for Literature. The cost for a Plan A student's year of work is $378, which includes achievement testing and records keeping.

Q. - Is there a price discount if I order the complete grade level (6 subjects)?
A. - No, all prices are the same.

Q. - Are there any discounts I might qualify for?
A. - If you or your spouse is involved in a Church ministry full-time (Pastor, Youth Pastor, Missionary, etc.), you will receive a discount. Discounts may only be requested by phone. Let the operator know when you order that you qualify.

Q. - Are there discounts for homeschool groups?
A. - Yes, when a homeschool group is organized into an umbrella school and places one bulk order for all families, it will be charged the regular school price for the curriculum.

Q. - Is there a discount for Christian schools?
A. - Christian Schools have a special price list. The name of the school must be given so that we know to charge you the school price.

Q. - Is there a discount for large families?
A. - Sorry, there are no such discounts available.

Academics

Q. - Do you have a Kindergarten program?
A. - Yes, we have a pre-Kindergarten program for three and four year olds, as well as a learning to read Kindergarten program for five year olds. Our Pre-Kindergarten consists of a teacher book, outlining each day's lesson plans, as well as teacher instructions and helps, and the student kit is a tablet of learning worksheets, which the students will work on during the lessons. Pre-Kindergarten lessons consist on teaching the basic colors and numbers 1-10, as well as introducing the alphabet and getting children ready to read.

The cost for the complete K3 program is $35.00 ($25 - teacher kit, $10 - student kit). The K5 program focuses on learning to read and write, phonics, basic math, and Bible memorization. The teacher's kit includes daily lesson plans, two readers, flashcards to accompany instruction, and a phonics cassette tape. The cost of the teacher's kit is $125.00. It is reusable every year for teaching.

The student kit includes 5 pads of worksheets (color pages, alphabet practice, lined paper for letter practice, activities, and math problems), two readers, an ABC Bible memory chart (a verse for each letter of the alphabet), a report card, and a diploma once the program has been completed. The cost for the student kit is $75.00.

Q. - What if I find a mistake in the curriculum?
A. - We would be appreciative if you call our office and report it so that it can be corrected. Should you find more than one and do not wish to call every time, please write them down and send them in at one time. We strive to maintain our curriculum, but we're only human! Any help with finding mistakes is a blessing.

Q. - Can I get academic help by phone if there is something I don't understand?
A. - Yes, our staff is available to help you with any academic questions you may have. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00-5:00, Eastern Time. We will do our best to help you with any questions.

Q. - Can your curriculum be taught traditionally?
A. - Yes, in fact, some of our schools have succeeded at this for several years. The teacher must use the course to formulate lesson plans, and may add supplemental activities if there is need for them.

Q. - Can I re-use the curriculum if my children do not write in the books?
A. - If you want to do this, it is fine, but we do not recommend it. The bother of copying everything down is hardly worth any money you may save, and many of our courses are updated and revised at frequent intervals.

Q. - If my child is coming out of public school, will he be on grade level with LFBC?
A. - Of course, that depends on the school, as many vary in academic excellence. Students transferring to LFBC may take a placement test to assess their grade level and a counselor will help you place them in our curriculum. The cost for this service is $25 per student.

Q. - How do your academics (difficulty, scope, etc.) compare with Bob Jones, A Beka, A.C.E., or Alpha Omega?
A. - It is impossible to give a course-by-course comparison, but academically, LFBC is on par with the leading curriculums. Difficulty levels are about the same, with LFBC perhaps a bit more advanced than other curriculum in some areas. The goal of all major curriculums has been to maintain a consistent academic level with one another, knowing that students may transfer in and out between them. LFBC is a quality curriculum, offering a working knowledge of the basic needs students have in all major subjects.

Q. - Is LFBC more challenging than other curriculums?
A. - Not especially, although we are not the easiest available, either. Students are taught using a thorough approach, and will learn to write reports, read well, spell correctly, and develop math skills. Bible verse memorization is also a part of the weekly lessons.

Q. - Does my child have to do every report in your curriculum?
A. - The parent has the discretion in this case, and may assign reports as he feels the need. It is recommended for students to do most of the reports, which will supplement the lesson taught and develop better writing skills. If information cannot be found, the parent may decide to simply discuss the topic with the child and have him write an essay on what was discussed.

Q. - Is a computer necessary to do Computer Literacy?
A. - Yes. Many activities are done using the computer. One with a Windows program of at least 95 Version is recommended. A printer is needed, also. Basic programs should be installed on the computer, such as paint, word processing, and layout.

Q. - Do you have a placement test?
A. - Yes, it can be ordered by phone, mail, or online. It costs $25 per student, and includes a test and a placement recommendation. Wide Range Achievement Tests are the standard used by LFBC. You will be responsible to administer the test, using a video sent with instructions, and send in the test within one week of receiving it, so that it can be graded.

Q. - Can I mix and match subjects between grade levels?
A. - Yes, but caution must be used, since courses are based on grade level, and may be too advanced or too easy for your student. If you feel that a lower math course may be better for him, for example, simply order that course. High school courses can be mixed to meet the needs of students.

Q. - How many homeschoolers use your curriculum?
A. - We have approximately 4,000 homeschool families currently using our curriculum.

Q. - Are your current customers pleased with the curriculum overall?
A. - Yes, the customer satisfaction level has constantly increased as our efforts have been redoubled to improve our product. Many customers have tried one subject and decided to switch completely to LFBC.

Q. - Is there anyone I can talk to who has used your curriculum?
A. - We do not give out customer phone numbers, but some of our staff has used the curriculum for their students or as students themselves, and may answer some of your questions.

Q. - How can I find out if there is a Christian school in my area that is using your curriculum?

A. - The offices of LFBC will be happy to assist you in giving out the names of schools in cities near you that use the curriculum, if there are any.

Q. - Can you help me find a homeschool support group in my area?
A. - We have only the names of the groups who order from us, but would be happy to try and locate one nearby if they are current customers.

Miscellaneous

Q. - What makes your curriculum unique?
A. - LFBC is the only full-line curriculum produced under the control of a local church. LFBC is a ministry of Landmark Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Mickey Carter. We are King James only, and Fundamental Baptist in our doctrine.

Q. - Can I make copies of the curriculum?
A. - No, the curriculum is fully copyrighted.

Q. - Do you expect your prices to go up soon?
A. - We have always tried to keep our costs low, and intend to continue that tradition. The prices should not go up anytime soon.

Q. - Do you have reading books for young children?
A. - Yes, we have the McGuffey Readers, designed for elementary level readers. In addition, we have a book of short stories, Same Old Ducks, that is quite enjoyable. Our newest publication, J.C. Franklin's Adventure at Alligator Reef, was written with middle elementary level readers in mind.

Q. - Do you have reading books for teenagers?
A. - Yes. Our collection includes numerous titles, such as: Leviathan, Tabernacle of the Sun, Pilgrim's Progress, Holy War, and The Faithful Baptist Witness. Some are fiction, others are educational.

Q. - Do you have a Christian college?
A. - Yes. Landmark Baptist College located in Haines City, Florida, is another ministry of Landmark Baptist Church. The principles of Fundamental Baptists are taught, including a strict emphasis on the King James Bible. Several degrees are offered, including Pastoral, Education, Music, Radio, and many more. Q. - When is Spanish II coming out?
A. - There are no plans in the immediate future for the second course.

Q. - Can people other than Baptists use your curriculum?
A. - Our focus is mainly to the Baptist market, but other denominations may use our curriculum, and some currently are. Our Baptist stand is uncompromisingly taught throughout the courses, but should you choose to order from us, we will not deny you that privilege based on denomination.

Q. - Do you have Sunday School material?
A. - We do not have any specific material for Sunday School, but some churches have used some of our high school Bible courses in their Sunday Schools. The history course Baptist History has also proven to be a good Sunday School series. For the younger children, we have just re-published the Sunbeam series, which is a set of activity/learning papers for 3, 4, and 5 year olds, along with a teacher's guide. Children are taught lessons from Scripture, along with character building stories from cartoon characters. Many churches have already requested these sets for their Sunday Schools, and have expressed their satisfaction with them. The Sunbeam student set costs $8.00. The teacher's guide costs $8.00, and is reusable. In the near future another series similar to the Sunbeams will be put out for children in the early elementary grades, called the Lamplighter series.

History of LFBC

Q. - How long has your curriculum been around?
A. - The curriculum was written in the 1970's, and was purchased as a company by Landmark Baptist Church in 1989.

Q. - Who wrote the Curriculum?
A. - Different people have worked on the courses individually, although each course is evaluated and revised as a group project by our staff.

Doctrine

Q. - Are you King James only?
A. - Yes! We take a firm stand that the King James Bible is the only Bible without error,
preserved by God for the English speaking world. All of our courses use only the King James, and teach the King James only position.

Q. - Why do you believe that the KJV is the only Bible for English speaking people?
A. - An extensive study has been made of the methods used to translate each 'version', and the King James Bible has been the only one translated out of the correct Hebrew and Greek texts, carefully compared and diligently brought into the English language by a large group of highly educated language and Bible scholars. It has been the Bible of every great English revival and church work since its translation in 1611. Q. - Are you associated with the "Landmark Baptists"?
A. - No. We are independent, fundamental Baptists, believing in Salvation by Grace through Faith, the eternal security of the believer, and independent, autonomous churches.

Q. - Do you believe "once saved, always saved"?
A. - Yes. The Bible teaches salvation is eternal (I John 5:13, John 3:16, Heb.13:5, Titus 1:2, etc.), and that it is impossible to lose. Once a person has accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour, he is "kept by the power of God unto salvation."

Q. - Are you the only "Baptist" curriculum?
A. - As far as we know, we are the only full-line (K-12) curriculum produced by a Baptist church, and the only curriculum that is solidly Baptist in its teachings.
