We take the time today to announce the home-going of a great man of God.  Brother J.B. Buffington went home to be with the Lord yesterday, August 20th.  We can only imagine the welcome home this great servant of the Lord received!  Only Heaven will tell how many souls came to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through this man’s ministry.  His ministry included three pastorates, the last being for thirty years at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lakeland, Florida.   We are sad to see him go, but glad to know that “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15.    Please be praying for Mrs. Buffington, and the rest of the family during this time of loss.

Here is an excerpt from his obituary:

Dr. Junious Bryson “J.B.” was a B-17 Pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII.  He moved to Lakeland in 1963 from Bristol, Florida.  He was the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church before his retirement.  He is currently a member of the Landmark Baptist Church in Haines City.

  2. I will never forget Pastor Buffington & all he has done for the Calvary Baptist Church & serving the Lord. He has been a great inspiration to what it means to be a child of GOD. He will never be forgotten. His memory will carry on thru centuries. I know when he met our Lord, he was told “well done thy good & faithful servant”. He was a great example to myself & my family. You will always remain in our heart Pastor Huffington!
